Making headlines in e-commerce: Click Forensics expands click fraud investigation service, Infopia adds search and review tools, video-ad platform Jivox introduces new features and eBay alternative eBid.net offers new sellers deep discounts. Plus, online privacy company TRUSTe revokes seal of non-complying Web shop.
Click Forensics Adds Google Support
Click Forensics, Inc., a company specializing in scoring, auditing and improving traffic quality for the online advertising community, just announced that it will now submit electronic third-party, pay-per-click quality reports to Google, MIVA and LookSmart on behalf of advertisers using the Click Forensics FACTr service.
The FACTr service, which stands for Fully Automated Click Tracking Reconciliation, enables advertisers to submit invalid traffic and click fraud evidence reports automatically to search providers and content networks in order to speed account reconciliation and credit request investigations. Yahoo was the first search provider to begin accepting FACTr reports back in July following a six-month pilot.
Using patent-pending analytics and live campaign data from the Click Fraud Network, Click Forensics identifies click fraud and poor quality traffic. The new FACTr capability provides advertisers with an automated way to submit evidence reports on suspect traffic electronically to search providers. Advertisers and search providers can use these reports to filter out sources of poor quality traffic before they affect campaigns, according to the company. Similar to a spam filter, Click Forensics delivers regular updates on new sites and sources perpetrating click fraud or those sending bad traffic to clients and members.
Infopia Adds Search and Reviews
Infopia, an e-commerce platform provider, announced the availability of new search and product features to be integrated with Infopia Storefronts part of the Infopia Transact eCommerce growth platform. The services, gained under a partnership with Nextopia and PowerReviews, both improve the buying experience by making it easy for shoppers to find and compare products based on attributes and reviews, according to the company.
The advanced search offering enhances the buying experience with intelligent search functions, such as refinements, fuzzy match and spell correction, and "Did you mean?" suggestions. The new product review capabilities enable shoppers to narrow product choices by pros or cons, evaluate "at a glance" summaries and look at reviews by previous customers "just like you."
"We asked for two improvements to enhance the buyer experience: improved site search and optimized checkout," Ali Masood, president of Action GPS, said in a statement. "Infopia has delivered on both in a manner exceeding our expectations, with ample time to test and deploy ahead of the holiday shopping season."
Jivox Updates Video Ad Service
Jivox, an online video advertising service that helps small and medium-sized businesses reach local customers, just introduced Jivox AdSlate 3.0, the latest version of its online video ad platform.

Jivox AdSlate 3.0 includes more comprehensive ad creation tools, expanded distribution methods, greater ease-of-use and improved behind-the-scenes targeting to help companies develop online video advertising campaigns, according to the company.

- Video resizing capability to allow overlay text to be on a custom-color background ;
- Timeline controls, with all still images, logos, audio and text arranged on a timeline.
- New Ad Distribution Methods: In addition to distribution of ads on Web sites that are part of the Jivox Publisher Network, Jivox has now added several ways by which advertisers can distribute their video ads. These services are available at no additional charge for advertisers who run a paid Web site campaign with Jivox
- Local search campaigns, with video ad placements on Google Maps, YellowPages.com, GetFave and other local search directories. Local search placement enables ads to be found by users who are looking for the product or service and therefore have a high propensity for purchasing;

- Embedding of video ads on customer's own Web site. This capability enables advertisers to embed video ads on the Web site so users to their site can learn about and see the product or service being offered.
- Greater Ease of Use: This includes a redesigned, simplified interface that streamlines the process of ad creation while providing advanced ad-creation capabilities, according to the company. For instance, there is now one-click preview for editing on a larger scale and then previewing of the ad in its actual size as well as more comprehensive tutorials and online help support.
- Improved Targeting, Optimization and Placement: There is now support for automatic tagging of video ads for use in contextual targeting. Additionally, there are improved campaign targeting algorithms resulting in higher click through rates, according to the company. Finally, the Jivox network has been expanded to include more than 600 local newspaper, television, radio and weather sites, enabling more precise local targeting.
One Jivox customer who is seeing results, the company said in a statement, is New Lifestyle Diet, an online service that enables customers to get weight loss advice, interact with a personal lifestyle coach and weight loss buddies and order healthy meals for home delivery. New Lifestyle Diet turned to Jivox to develop a cost-effective series of online video ads. The message and images in the video ads targeted New Lifestyle Diet's core group of potential customers, women aged 25-48, and communicated New Lifestyle Diet's approach to dieting in a fun and engaging way.
The ads were distributed to a geo-targeted audience in the Jivox Publisher Network, which reaches over 55 million unique visitors. Within a month of launching the video ads, New Lifestyle Diet began seeing an increase in Web site visits and a jump in new sign-ups, says Jivox.
"Jivox is incredibly easy to use and the company offered personalized support," said Hamilton Erridge, CEO of New Lifestyle Diet, said in a statement. "Jivox really worked with us to understand our advertising needs, our target audience and our key messages. Jivox has put our small company on a more level playing field with bigger competitors, helping us compete head-to-head with massive brands like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig."
