If you've got a bit of a holiday hangover from the hectic fourth-quarter — or worse, from a slow one — two free services for e-commerce site owners are out this week, and we couldn't think of a better way to settle into the New Year. The first application is analysis software for Google AdWords and the second is for e-tailers who want to aggregate customer reviews into a single score.

Logic361, a pay-per-click search advertising analysis software company, yesterday announced the launch of SEM Profit Analyzer, a free, hosted search engine advertising analysis software application for Google AdWords advertisers.

The new application evaluates constantly changing Google AdWords advertising data, and according to the company, it can uncover hidden opportunities to increase revenue and decrease costs for AdWords pay per click (PPC) advertisers.

For instance, Logic361's search advertising analysis software is capable of telling a Google AdWords advertiser to, "increase the bids on these keywords and pause those keywords… re-write this ad and pause these other ads," according to the company. By following these suggestions, the company says you can expect to increase conversions by "X" amount and decrease costs by "Y" amount.

Logic361's free SEM Profit Analyzer software combines years of collective expertise from GM, Home Depot, ING Direct, Real Networks, Wine.com and dozens of other expert search marketers with advanced programmatic data analysis, says Stephen Schramke, CEO of the company.

"It is amazingly simple to be an expert Google AdWords advertiser when you have software that does all of the analysis work for you and tells you the best changes to make," says Schramke.

"With search advertising, the pressure is always on to quickly and cost-effectively deliver results," Chris Gilpin, marketing director, BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com, said in a statement. "Within two minutes of reviewing the dashboard recommendations, I was making significant changes to my Google AdWords advertising account. We have thousands of ads and tens of thousands of keywords and I can now see exactly where to make adjustments. My management time has been cut in half and our Google AdWords advertising is more profitable."

Here are the key features and benefits in SEM Profit Analyzer as outlines by the company:

  • Opportunity Dashboard: Google Adwords advertisers can see, at a glance, key opportunities to increase ad revenues and decrease keyword costs. Interactivity is a key feature of the dashboard and provides the ability to quickly access additional campaign statistics and overviews.

  • Keyword Ad Pair Analysis: Systematically managing ad testing at the keyword level minimizes costly performance variances that can include lost Google Adwords conversion opportunities and increased testing costs.

  • Getting SEM Profit Analyzer: SEM Profit Analyzer is immediately available as a free, hosted software account. Sign-up information can be found at the company page here.

TrustPilot Aggregates Customer Reviews

In other free e-commerce developments, TrustPilot, is a relatively new company based in Denmark serving the U.K. and Europe, just began offering its free service at a U.S. site.

Julie Van Hemelryck, country manager for the U.S., explains how it works: " TrustPilot aggregates customer reviews from all across the Web, and combines the many reviews into a single score. The higher the score, the more satisfied the costumers. The purpose of TrustPilot is to create a brand that signals quality and customer service. It is entirely based on customer recommendations."

She said companies gathering large amounts of positive feedback can display the score on their Web site, encouraging other potential customers to proceed to checkout, as it signals trust and reliability.

"Furthermore, following up on reviews gives e-shops the possibility to really understand what customers think, and is the ultimate tool to improve customer satisfaction by keeping a close eye on customer's need," said Van Hemelryck.

To date TrustPilot has gathered approximately 1 million reviews and rated more then 17,000 online vendors, said Van Hemelryck.

"In the future, we will add some paying services, but the core business — adding reviews, replying to reviews from customers, asking for feedback and displaying the TrustScore — will always stay free of charge," she said.

"Many people subscribing to our service are smaller Web shops, sometimes even managed by one person. However, this does not mean that they score less. Our experience shows us that very often, smaller Web shops provide a more personal service then the bigger ones, (so there's a clear benefit for them.)"
