Vendio, a popular eBay solutions provider and shopping toolbar developer, and gNumber, Inc., a provider of a mobile eBay bidding service called UnWired Buyer, today announced a joint agreement through which both companies will provide new services to eBay merchants and buyers in an effort to boost auction sale prices for its customers.
The partnership promotes offerings from each company that enhance the experience with the eBay marketplace for both buyers and merchants. Dealio, Vendio's comparison shopping toolbar, will enable UnWired Buyer users to find the best deals available across the Internet, including eBay auctions. UnWired Buyer will help Vendio merchants sell more by enabling their prospective buyers to bid on items during the auction's last minutes using their cell phones.
"Together, Dealio and UnWired Buyer make capturing the best deals online even easier," said Rodrigo Sales, founder and CEO of Vendio. "Dealio makes it simple for buyers to locate great deals across the Web, and UnWired Buyer ensures they don't miss winning the best eBay deals when they are away from their computers by allowing buyers to bid from anywhere using their cell phones."
As part of the agreement, Vendio will promote UnWired Buyer to all its merchants, who will be able to add an UnWired Buyer link to their eBay listings or through other correspondence and receive registration compensation through the Vendio affiliate program.
Vendio released its first shopping comparison toolbar in August 2005 and began incorporating eBay listings in its results in November, becoming the first comparison shopping toolbar to incorporate auction and fixed price listings from eBay.
In an earlier interview with ECommerce Guide, Sales said the new toolbar was designed to "take all the work out of comparison shopping."
"In interviews with consumers, we found that people would spend a lot of time searching around for bigger items. But, for smaller items they wouldn't necessarily take the time. They might only save $3 to $4. We created a product that enables consumers to do what they would normally do. Once they arrive at specific product page, then the Dealio toolbar appears and shows them total price for that exact same item," he said.
UnWired Buyer debuted in September 2005. The service works by placing a phone call to the user to update him or her with critical listing details, such as the current high bid, and allows the user to place new bids on items using UnWired Buyer's custom interactive voice response system. UnWired Buyer's service is free to eBay members.
UnWired Buyer allows bidders to participate in online bidding activities without the need of a computer. According to a company statement, the custom voice interface allows fast communication of changes in bid status, enabling users to complete bids in the final seconds of the auction-style listing when they are away from their PC, but in reach of their mobile phone.
"With UnWired Buyer, Vendio merchants will be able to reach all potential buyers and secure additional bids on listings down to the last minute, regardless of the buyer's location," said Indraj Gill, CEO of gNumber. "We have seen that UnWired Buyer's free service improves the auction close rates for sellers."
UnWired Buyer will offer the free Dealio Toolbar to all its users. Dealio can be downloaded for free from the UnWired Buyer Web site or from www.dealio.com.
