Since most Net users either use a Macintosh or Windows operating system, and thus OS-specific browsers, you''ll want your site to look identical on both, and run equally as well on the less popular platforms.

Software and hardware produce binary-compatible files which means users can switch platforms without converting data to a different format. This is important since networks can have computers of different platforms all linked together and they should all have the same Web viewing capability.

When you choose a designer and developer for your site, make sure they are experienced in resolving cross platform issues. Also, make sure to check your site from both a Mac and Windows environment after the initial development and whenever major changes are implemented.
