BizTalk On The Way
Focusing more on the business-to-consumer market, in early March
Microsoft announced the BizTalk Framework For E-commerce. Some of
Microsoft''s initiatives include:
- Extending BizTalk to Windows Distributed InterNet Applications (DNA),
applications for ActiveStore, Windows DNA for Financial Services
(Windows DNAfs), ActiveX For Healthcare, Windows DNA for Manufacturing,
and the Value Chain Initiative (VCI).
- Developing a content framework to support the Microsoft Network (MSN)
that will bring businesses and consumers together.
- Creation of the BizTalk Server to simplify data exchange and
application integration using the Internet. BizTalk Server will provide
scalable interchange and data translation capabilities in a future
update of Microsoft''s Site Server Commerce Edition, which will later be
renamed to Microsoft Commerce Server.
- Development of initial industry standard XML schemas for EDI and Open
Application Group (OAG), used by manufacturing firms. Ongoing
development of new schemas and XML DTDs are being defined in concert
with ISVs, customers and other industry consortia.
- Extending BizTalk to Microsofts Back Office applications, MS Office
applications, and future versions of Microsoft Windows operating system.
