Working With Passfaces
Initial Enrollment
New users are enrolled in the Passface System using the following steps:
- Users supply a unique ID that they''ll use for logging-on.
- Users are asked to choose four faces from a large collection of anonymous but similar faces.
- Users ''practice'' using their Passfaces as the system helps them to permanently learn to recognize them.
- Selections are stored in password fields, along with the user ID, as references to the Passfaces they selected.
Logging-in
- Users supply their pre-existing user ID and submit their log-on request to the server.
- Users are then presented with one 3X3 grid of faces that contains one of their Passfaces along with 8 decoys. Faces are randomly placed each time a new log-in challenge is presented.
- Users click on the face they recognize in response to the challenge.
- Challenges are then repeated three more times for the other Passfaces.
- Access is only granted after all four Passfaces are correctly chosen.
