Ziff-Davis'' Sm@rtReseller magazine also embraces the eduCommerce concepts. "Selling education isn''t new. Every time we set foot onto a customer site, we almost immediately begin teaching our clients the ideas and theories behind the technologies we sell. Rather than holding time-consuming, real-time classes, you can offer comprehensive training with no time limits, no fixed scheduling demands, and no brick-and-mortar expenses."

notHarvard.com''s FreeSchool EduCommerce Suite of software provides the foundation for rapid deployment of online university sites. They''ve created a series of free online universities for a host of clients that include Ask Jeeves, Talk City, Bloomberg.com, jobs.com, and Motorola/Metrowerks. notHarvard claims that the total number of registered users of these dotcom clients totals more than 20 million.

notHarvard has received over $8 million in private funding through Austin, Texas-area venture capitalists, along with several other private Internet investors. Their non-accredited, online courses appeal to a wide variety of audiences ranging from adult learners to high school students. The universities operate using a rich, interactive learning environment -- a virtual classroom where instructors and students participate in lively discussions.

notHarvard is growing steadily and is actively seeking strong content writers and course instructors. The tone of the classes ranges from business-like to more conversational depending on the subject. A course author will typically attach saleable materials to their course. These materials can be books, CDs, videos or any other conceivable products (travel, bikes and cars) are all fair game. Their Teach For Us section of their Web site lists course titles they''re interested in having developed. Other ideas for courses not listed may be submitted for review.

As all forms of education are being re-invented, notHarvard stands on the cusp of major learning transformation by taking advantage of the best aspects of the Internet -- freedom and ubiquity!
