Simple Comptable 2003

ACCPAC International, Inc. announced this week the release of Simple Comptable^TM 2003, the French language version of the company's Simply Accounting 2003 integrated accounting program for small businesses.

The new version provides small businesses a complete accounting system, and includes integrated payroll and e-commerce features. The Simple Comptable 2003 PRO version also adds multi-user, multi-currency, and time billing capabilities for an additional fee.

A major upgrade from previous versions, Simple Comptable 2003 includes features and enhancements based on the demands and requests of more than 400,000 registered Simply Accounting users. New features include:

• Bilingual Simply Webstore^TM for integrated e-commerce;
• Departmental accounting (PRO version);
• Time billing and payroll integration (PRO version);
• Security features and;
• Reporting enhancements;

"Simple Comptable 2003 really is simple to use, and has a strong feature set to help small businesses manage their affairs intelligently," said Daniel Carrier of Syscomp, a Montreal-based small business consulting firm.

"Small businesses don't have the luxury of expensive consultants to explain or manage their accounting, or create a presence for them on the Internet -- they need affordable software that's easy to use, accurate, and gives them a clear picture of their business," said Scott Garell, Senior Vice President, ACCPAC Small Business Group. "We've designed Simple Comptable 2003 to be the best value accounting software for small business -- a complete, secure accounting system that business owners can be confident in using day in and day out."

The e-commerce component, Simply Webstore, offers businesses an inexpensive (a monthly fee of $50 (CAD)) and fast entry to online selling, and enables users to build a complete French- or English-language Web store in a matter of hours. Simply Webstore includes more than 60 pre-configured storefront templates from which to choose. Optional services for setting up e-commerce capabilities include domain registration, credit card processing, and site design.

Storefront management is handled online via an ACCPAC-hosted interface and eliminates the need for users to set up sophisticated and expensive hardware and software. Simply Webstore also runs in conjunction with the accounting system, Simple Comptable 2003, therefore no extra integration effort is needed. A running inventory can be kept as Simple Comptable 2003 automatically presents itself in Simply Webstore and sales transactions made at Simply Webstore go directly into Simple Comptable 2003 without re-keying.

The new departmental accounting capability in Simple Comptable 2003 PRO enables detailed reporting of up to 100 departments within a company. The PRO version also uses segments in the GL account codes, enabling true departmental accounting and reporting throughout all accounting modules. Also, new integration between the product's time billing and payroll modules enables users to easily pay employees based on time slips and compare billable or actual amounts with payroll costs. Other payroll enhancements include the ability for small business owners to define extra payroll hourly rate and automatically view vacation pay owed and view outstanding balances for employee advances.

New security features include increased password security and a new check log report that allows small business owners to tightly control and monitor their internal accounting. Simple Comptable 2003 retains a full-time audit trail, ensuring accounting integrity automatically.

Reporting enhancements now allow users to sort and display information based on the user's preference and easily change report-viewing options without having to close and re-open reports. Date range selection for ad hoc reporting has also been streamlined with pop-up calendars and drop-down lists. In addition, reports can be produced in HTML format for viewing over the Internet.

New timesaving features include the ability to assign a revenue account to specific customers for faster data entry. Users can now also quickly access the Microsoft Windows calculator from the Simple Comptable toolbar, easily edit sales tax information in the sales journal and attach user-definable fields to transactions.
