Omniture Helps Socrates Achieve a 40 Percent Increase in Online Conversion Supported by Effective Cross-Channel Marketing Campaigns
With Socrates' most recent campaign, the company increased the sales of the living wills products by 15 percent at retail stores and 40 percent online in the first quarter of 2005, compared to the fourth quarter of 2004. Unlike companies that offer superficial measurements of Web site traffic, SiteCatalyst provides precision analysis on every aspect of each marketing campaign that lets companies make real-time adjustments based on current feedback from Web traffic and changes in market trends. With data and analysis from SiteCatalyst, Socrates has clear insight into the sources of visitor traffic and site clickstream behavior, allowing the company to quickly capitalize on opportunities that would otherwise not be apparent. SiteCatalyst also allows Socrates to more successfully market to customers through Socrates.com and its channel partners -- Office Depot, Office Max, Staples and Wal-Mart.
With SiteCatalyst, we have an up-to-the-second status on all aspects of our marketing campaigns and site performance. This helps us quickly test and optimize every element of our online effort - changing key word purchases through search engines, refining product and offer placements on Socrates.com and other sites, and modifying the design and content of banner ads," said Michael Kahn, Consumer Marketing Director for Socrates.com. "We were using other Web analytics products like WebTrends and some piecemeal tools, but nothing provided the in-depth clickstream analysis of Omniture. The SiteCatalyst installation was a 'breakthrough moment' for us -- it not only brought us a wealth of new data but also allowed us to take realtime ownership of that data and analysis without having to rely on the IT staff to deliver the reports we needed to make decisions."
Omniture Improves How Socrates Markets to Customers
Socrates recently put SiteCatalyst to the test when it noticed a surge in the number of searches for "living wills." Socrates began its living wills campaign by buying key words (such as "living wills", "trust", and "estate Planning") on search engines including Google and Yahoo/Overture. The living wills products were also featured on the Socrates.com home page and on family-related pages on the site, with a special discount offer that was also sent to Socrates.com..s 100,000+ database of customers. Retail store partners Staples, Office Depot, and Office Max featured the discount and information about the living wills products on their Web sites and in their stores. The promotion lasted about a month, and in that time Socrates introduced some lasting innovations on its site, including a special promotion area very prominently displayed on its home page. Socrates also discovered that there was a select group of repeat buyers who came back to buy products within 24 to 48 hours of their initial purchase because they were involved in a project and needed additional products immediately. As a result, they could produce a special promotion to first-time buyers of particular products to increase this rate of repeat buyers. "Omniture provides companies of all sizes with a new way of getting advance insight into emerging market trends and to capitalize on these opportunities in real-time," said Josh James, CEO and co founder of Omniture. "Using the SiteCatalyst Suite, companies can revolutionize their online marketing programs; from quickly developing a targeted campaign to address current events, to refining their key words in search engines and changing investments in affiliate sites - allowing them to dive really deep into every aspect of how those campaigns are working".
